About The Position

The CSP Technician I supports sterile processing operations at Franciscan Health Mooresville Campus. The role handles instruments, equipment, supplies, and case carts for surgery and hospital departments, and operates sterilizing and decontaminating equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and applicable policies and regulations. The technician follows standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment when handling soiled instruments, blood, biohazard material, and body fluids.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required if required by the unit.

Nice To Haves

One year of surgery experience preferred.
CRCST certification preferred within one year.

Responsibilities

Stock carts with supplies after carts are brought to sterile processing for exchange.
Respond to instrument and equipment requests from surgery and hospital departments.
Perform testing and run biologicals on sterilizers, documenting results accurately.
Follow hospital policy and state regulations when discrepancies occur.
Operate sterilizers and decontaminating equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment when handling blood, biohazard material, and body fluids.
Collect soiled instruments and equipment from surgery and hospital units.
Visually inspect instruments and ensure they are clean before sterilization.
Assess supplies needed for prescribed standard surgical procedures and set up case carts.
Maintain inventory; collect, disassemble, inspect, clean, disinfect, and reassemble instrument trays and patient care equipment.
