About The Position

The CSP Technician I supports sterile processing operations at Franciscan Health Mooresville Campus. The role maintains and processes instrument trays and patient care equipment, responds to supply and equipment requests, and prepares case carts for surgical procedures. The technician operates sterilization and decontamination equipment according to manufacturer instructions, performs sterilizer testing and biological monitoring, and follows hospital policies, state regulations, standard precautions, and personal protective equipment requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
CRCST certification required if required by the unit.

Nice To Haves

One year of surgery experience preferred.
CRCST certification preferred within one year.

Responsibilities

Stock carts with supplies after carts are brought to sterile processing for exchange.
Respond to instrument and equipment requests from surgery and hospital departments.
Test sterilizers and run biologicals, documenting results accurately and following hospital policy and state regulations when discrepancies occur.
Operate sterilizers and decontaminating equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
Follow standard precautions when handling blood, biohazard material, and body fluids, and use personal protective equipment.
Collect soiled instruments and equipment from surgery and hospital units.
Visually inspect instruments to ensure they are clean before sterilization.
Assess supplies required for prescribed standard surgical procedures and set up case carts.
Maintain inventory; collect, disassemble, inspect, clean, disinfect, and reassemble instrument trays and patient care equipment.
