About The Position

The Crossing Guard is responsible for escorting students in and around school crossing zones to ensure their safety and assist with student management. This role requires adherence to district policies and procedures, serving as a role model for students, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Ability to follow verbal instruction and communicate effectively
Knowledge of general safety procedures in walking students across a roadway
Ability to work well with children
Ability to manage student discipline
Regular attendance and willingness to report to work on a regular daily basis according to established work schedule.

Responsibilities

Assist students in crossing streets in a safe, orderly manner.
Ensure students’ safety at school loading, unloading, and/or crossing areas.
Monitor the traffic flow and stop and/or direct traffic as appropriate to ensure student safety in crossing areas.
Enforce student management as prescribed by the district.
Communicate with students and parents about safety in escorting students across the roadway.
Report to work at the designated work site on a regular daily basis according to the established work schedule.
Comply with district policies and procedures.
Operate equipment according to established safety procedures.
Serve as a role model for students.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
