About The Position

This is a seasonal, part-time position that works while school is in session. The Crossing Guard assists school children in crossing the street at an assigned school crosswalk, directs traffic as required in the crossing area, and reports any problems to the Police Officer in charge. The role may require attending training sessions scheduled by the Police Department, and alternates may be assigned to work any crossing when needed.

Requirements

• Considerable experience in dealing with children.
• Completion of Elementary School.
• Ability to relate to children and their needs.
• Ability to work effectively with children.
• Tactful but firm.
• Must be a person of sobriety and have no felony convictions.
• Ability to learn basic traffic rules and direct children at cross walks.
• Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities
