Crossing Guard (Part-Time)
About The Position
Performs routine duties as needed to assure safe crossing of school children and the general public at intersections and other road crossings. Observes road traffic to determine best timing for road crossings; admits children and pedestrians into designated crossing locations; escorts children and pedestrians as needed to assure safe crossings; Monitors behavior of children and educates children regarding traffic safety as appropriate; Observes general activity while on duty to detect suspicious behaviors; Reports such observations; May prepare various reports related to work time and work activities; and other duties as assigned by the Police Sergeant.
Requirements
- Knowledge of traffic flows, rules, and regulations.
- Skilled in dealing effectively with children.
- Ability to enter roadway and stop flow of traffic.
- Sufficient education to demonstrate an aptitude or ability to perform duties.
- Sufficient experience to demonstrate a working knowledge of practices and procedures.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
