About The Position

Under the general supervision of the School Resources Officer Lieutenant, this position provides supervision of pedestrian control at an assigned post to ensure a reasonable and orderly flow of pedestrian traffic and safety to the public. This role involves directing pedestrians at assigned street or highway locations, ensuring smooth traffic flow, and reporting violations of traffic laws. The position also promotes positive public relations between the Sheriff's Office and the community and requires reporting to duty at designated times, which may vary by post location. Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and/or ability to learn basic traffic laws.
  • Knowledge and/or ability to learn safety procedures.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Skills in dealing effectively and courteously with students, coworkers, supervisors, deputies and the public.
  • Ability to communicate verbally.
  • Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to respond quickly if needed.
