About The Position

Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, quality isn't a checkpoint — it's a mindset woven into every product, service, and experience we create. The people here don't just test software; they safeguard the customer experience that defines Apple in the minds of millions. If you see quality as a strategic force multiplier — not a final gate — this role was built for you. The AppleCare Technologies team has an immediate opening for a Cross-Functional Quality Engineer to plan and lead cross-functional testing across complex AppleCare projects. In AppleCare Technologies, inclusion and diversity fuel our ability to solve the most complex quality challenges in the enterprise. Our Cross-Functional Quality Engineers are the architects of confidence — they bring structure to ambiguity, elevate quality thinking across disciplines, and ensure that Apple's most ambitious systems initiatives ship with precision and integrity. We're looking for a quality leader who doesn't just execute test plans — someone who shapes how Apple thinks about quality from day one of a program, and who leaves every team they touch more capable than they found it.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading quality engineering and cross-functional testing at enterprise scale
  • Proven expertise in risk-based testing methodologies and shift-left quality strategy, with demonstrated results in proactive defect prevention
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and a track record of driving automation adoption across teams
  • Practical, applied experience with Generative AI and/or AIML in a quality engineering or software development context
  • Strong command of system and software architecture models, including the ability to analyze system interdependencies and translate them into actionable test designs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence without direct authority across engineering, product, and business stakeholders
  • Experience establishing QA program structure, coordinating cross-project testing initiatives, and optimizing quality investment for maximum ROI
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to distill technical complexity for both technical and non- technical audiences at all levels

Nice To Haves

  • SAP functional expertise in SD/MM modules; experience leading testing for SAP R/3 to S/4 HANA migrations is a strong plus
  • Domain knowledge in Operations, Supply Chain, and/or Logistics within a large-scale enterprise environment
  • Experience scaling quality programs across a global, matrixed organization
  • ISTQB, ASQ, or equivalent quality engineering certification

Responsibilities

  • Embed quality strategy and risk thinking early in the project lifecycle, partnering with product, engineering, and business teams from inception
  • Define quality gates, entry/exit criteria, and testing strategies aligned to project goals and risk tolerance, ensuring quality is a shared responsibility across every function
  • Inspire teams to fight for excellence under competing priorities, modeling intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and an unwavering dedication to the customer experience
  • Apply risk-based testing frameworks to make evidence-driven decisions about test scope, depth, and sequencing — focusing coverage where impact to customers and business is greatest
  • Proactively identify and surface technological, organizational, and operational risks, driving mitigation strategies before they become program-level problems
  • Leverage data, analytics, and testing insights to continuously optimize coverage strategies and improve predictive quality outcomes
  • Lead end-to-end test planning, preparation, resourcing, and execution for large-scale, cross-functional programs spanning UAT, integration, regression, and performance testing
  • Facilitate requirements traceability and test scenario identification across complex, multi-system landscapes with clarity and rigor
  • Manage test environments, data strategies, and resource estimation to ensure testing is never the bottleneck — it's the enabler
  • Lead cross-functional meetings with audiences ranging from 2 to 60+ participants, driving alignment on actions, owners, and timelines
  • Champion test automation adoption across teams — identifying opportunities to accelerate coverage, reduce manual effort, and build lasting quality infrastructure
  • Integrate Generative AI and AIML capabilities into quality engineering workflows: intelligent test generation, defect prediction, anomaly detection, and smart test prioritization
  • Stay ahead of the quality engineering landscape, bringing innovative tools, techniques, and approaches to every program you lead
  • Mentor quality engineers and cross-functional partners, building lasting capability across the organization — not just within your immediate team
  • Foster a culture of healthy debate, continuous learning, and psychological safety, where diverse perspectives produce stronger, more resilient testing outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, methodologies, and tooling — always seeking smarter, faster, better ways to ship with confidence
  • Translate complex technical testing details into clear, compelling narratives for audiences ranging from engineers to executive leadership
  • Report testing progress, risks, and quality metrics with transparency and actionable insight — empowering decision-makers with the right information at the right time
