About The Position

AgriSompo North America is seeking an Area Claims Supervisor for its Upper Midwest team, focusing on Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI), Private Products, and Named Peril claims operations. This role is crucial for leading and developing a team, ensuring efficient claims service through effective training and communication. The supervisor will oversee internal communications to streamline claims processes, act as a local expert for claims adjusting issues, address concerns, and support the team in delivering exceptional service. The position is based remotely in North Dakota, with a focus on fostering a collaborative work environment for employee development and career growth.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of crop insurance claim experience
Required license and certification: CAPP certification and valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and applicable State license
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
Ability to complete documentation requirements.
Ability to utilize analytical thinking; find facts and solve problems.
Ability to remain self-motivated and efficient.
Ability to work both in an office setting and outdoors in a farm environment.
Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
Working knowledge of crop insurance regulations, policies, procedures and best practices.
Works effectively under pressure and able to work within tight deadlines.
Willingness to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize.
Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.
Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain effective relationships with Regional Leadership and cross-functional partners to support timely, accurate, and compliant claims processing.
Provide claims-related updates, analysis, and reporting to the Regional Claims Manager to support operational, staffing, budgeting, and performance decisions.
Monitor claims productivity, service-level performance, adjuster workloads, closure rates, payment timelines, and other key claims metrics.
Analyze resource utilization and staffing needs to support efficient claims operations and budget management.
Identify training and performance gaps, partnering with Claims Training and leadership to ensure service standards are achieved.
Coach and support adjusters through guidance, work reviews, and feedback to promote consistency, accuracy, compliance, and adherence to company procedures.
Manage employee development and staffing activities, including hiring, training, performance management, delegation, coaching, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations.
Establish and communicate performance expectations aligned with company goals, values, and service standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
