About The Position

Allina Health is hiring a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for a unique split-location role, with 0.5 FTE at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and 0.5 FTE at Faribault Medical Center. At Abbott Northwestern, the CRNA will care for high-acuity cases across a wide variety of specialties, including neuro and cardiac cases, in a Level 2 Trauma Center. The practice is medically directed, does not include pediatrics under age 12, and does not require off-premise beeper call. At Faribault Medical Center, the CRNA will provide full-scope independent practice in a community hospital setting, including independent placement and management of labor epidurals and spinal anesthesia, as well as ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and regional anesthesia for surgical patients. Call coverage and OB cases are located at Owatonna Hospital.

The CRNA renders patients insensitive to pain through anesthetic agents, medications, and procedures to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures. The position provides airway management, IV access, monitored anesthesia care, and pain-related consultation across areas of the facility. The CRNA also provides peri-anesthetic and clinical support, collaborates with the department team, and contributes to patient and unit outcomes, peer support, mentoring, and improvement processes.

This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week on a combination of 8- and 12-hour shifts. The shift may be day, evening, or night, with an occasional weekend rotation. The hourly pay range is $130.00 to $140.00; starting pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors. Benefits and eligibility depend on FTE and union representation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Master's degree and graduation from a Nurse Anesthetist program.
• Licensed Registered Nurse from the Minnesota Board of Nursing, required upon hire.
• Registered Nurse Anesthetist credential from the Minnesota Board of Nursing, required upon hire.
• ACLS/BLS Tier 2 – Advanced Cardiac Life Support – Multisource, required upon hire.
• PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support – Multisource, required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• At least 2 years of experience working as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthesia assessments and evaluations, review orders, and obtain informed consent.
• Ensure patients are properly positioned and safely secured.
• Initiate anesthetic techniques, including general, regional, local, or sedation approaches.
• Manage airway and cardiopulmonary status to maintain satisfactory physiologic condition.
• Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia by administering medications and fluids and providing airway support.
• Discharge patients and provide summaries of patient history and surgical events.
• Provide peri-anesthetic and clinical support to other patient-care areas.
• Insert peripheral and arterial catheters and perform arterial punctures to obtain blood samples.
• Initiate or participate in CPR involving airway maintenance, ventilation, tracheal intubation, pharmacological support, or cardiovascular support.
• Consult on and implement respiratory and ventilator care.
• Make decisions that contribute to desired patient and unit outcomes and establish work priorities for self and others.
• Serve as a resource to peers and other health-related professionals.
• Assume charge responsibilities as assigned.
• Precept and mentor students and orientees as delegated.
• Help identify and initiate improvement processes.
• At Faribault Medical Center, independently place and manage labor epidurals and spinal anesthesia and perform ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and regional anesthesia for surgical patients.
