About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet globally. The Leo satellite constellation is a key part of this mission. The success of Leo relies on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, and security of its products. This role is for a mid-level Critical Lift Technician on the back half (Wed-Sat) 1st shift, focusing on development and production integration of the Leo satellite in final integration. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, enjoys solving high-impact problems, and is motivated by building something from scratch, demonstrating high standards of execution.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years in a high traceability manufacturing environment, or relevant trade school certification
  • 1+ years using hand tools and/or precision measuring instruments (i.e., Calipers, multi-meters, torque wrenches)
  • 1+ years working with test tools and test methods that adequately validate the system
  • Experience reading, interpreting and working from engineering documentation and/or drawings
  • Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed
  • Able to climb and down ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the aerospace industry, construction, military, energy or other high-reliability operating environment using heavy-lift equipment
  • Experience in a fast-paced production environment
  • Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
  • A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Experience working with Electro-Mechanical Assembly, Final Integration, Fiber Optics/Optical and/or Harness Integration
  • 1+ Years Crane operation experience - Bridge, Jib, Mobile
  • 1+ Years Rigging experience
  • 1+ Years Forklift operator experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform and lead rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive hardware
  • Develop a deep knowledge of proper and safe rigging uses for both Lifting and Handling gear
  • Obtain licenses as a crane, forklift, aerial work platform and specialty crane operator
  • Operate and maintain cranes, forklifts, aerial work platforms and specialty cranes in a clean-room environment
  • Run pre-lift safety briefings with up to 10 people
  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multi-meters, optical inspection devices, micrometers and calipers
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment
  • Execution of assigned tasks based on production requirements and priorities
  • Communicate production blockers and process changes to engineers and leadership
  • Attend daily meetings to discuss priorities, safety, and quality issues or concerns
