About The Position

JLL is hiring a Critical Facilities Engineer for a new, state-of-the-art data center opening in Colorado City, TX. This role is crucial for launching the facility and offers opportunities for technical development in a dynamic environment. The engineer will be responsible for best-practice systems and problem resolution for all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, and cooling systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working in a data center or critical facility.
  • Experience with building systems, including UPS systems, emergency generators, switchgears, HVAC, chillers, CRAC or CRAH units.
  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite and CMMS.
  • Must be able to work different schedules.
  • Must be able to work Holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to site emergencies.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance for all building systems to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Ensuring continuous operation of fire/life safety, mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, CRAC, CRAH, plumbing, controls), electrical systems (emergency backup, lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, transformers), and hot water systems.
  • Monitoring operation, adjusting, and maintaining refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, ventilating and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Recording readings and making adjustments to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Analyzing system operations, determining causes of problems/malfunctions, and taking corrective action.
  • Complying with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
  • Learning and understanding the data center site to manage incidents and events that put critical systems at risk.
  • Managing work orders, including CMMS and Vendor Management.
  • Handling customer-facing tickets.
  • Understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures.
  • Performing additional job duties as required.
