About The Position

Provides high quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing established Clinical Operating Guidelines approved by Emory Healthcare EMS (EHCEMS) Medical Director, within scope of practice. Assesses the nature and extent of the illness and injury to establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport of the critical care patient to an appropriate facility. Qualified to provide care for patients across the lifespan in assigned clinical area. Assures that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. Supports EHCEMS operations whenever and however is needed.

Requirements

  • Critical Care Paramedic or Flight Paramedic within 3 months of hire.
  • BCLS(Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • ACLS
  • PALS

Responsibilities

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Emory Healthcare's culture: One Emory, People Centered, Lead Change, Own it.
  • Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial patient contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation and completes prior to end of shift.
  • Functions within the scope of practice as defined by state and national regulations.
  • Attends a minimum of eight critical care educational programs per year pertinent to practice.
  • Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to ensure repair of equipment as directed.
  • Maintains adequate supplies on board ambulances.
  • Keeps ambulance clean inside and out ensuring safe and rapid response to all requests.
  • Participate in one or more of the following roles an ongoing basis: training, Clinical Quality Assurance, Logistics/Supplies, Compliance, Capital Equipment, Research/Analytics, Internal Communications, and Critical Care Team Outreach.
  • All Critical Care Paramedics may be assigned as a Field Training Officer for new employee orientation or those in need of additional training and/or mentorship.
  • Performs point of care testing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
