About The Position
This is an ongoing coverage need for a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) at an 18-bed ICU within a Level III trauma center. The NP will work the night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, averaging 14 shifts per month. Anesthesia is in-house for support, and Tele-ICU Physician coverage is available at night. The role requires performing procedures and managing adult and geriatric patients. The assignment is expected to be long-term as the facility conducts a permanent search. The EMR system used is Meditech, and credentialing typically takes 60-90 days.
Requirements
- Willing to await licensure
- Board certification
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1-year Critical Care experience or equivalent
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
- National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
- Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
