About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting a Critical Care Anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education and research components. This position is full or part-time FTE 80-100%. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor or Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Requirements

  • WI medical license by start date of position.
  • Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology by start date of position.
  • MD, DO, or equivalent is required by start date of the position.
  • Must be eligible for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment.

  • Duties for appointment to the Clinician Teacher (CT) track: Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call ) in an anesthesia team model.
  • Duties for appointment to CHS track: Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions.
  • Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general anesthesia procedures and techniques, or in area of subspecialty training.
  • Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia.
  • Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • Working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model.
  • Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions.
  • Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general anesthesia procedures and techniques, or in area of subspecialty training.
