About The Position

This is a full-time Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) position within the Intensivist Care unit at Pineville. The service provides 24/7 coverage with a shift-based model, focusing on inpatient adult care. The role involves the daily assessment, management, and documentation of critically ill medical and surgical patients, including those admitted from the operating room after complex cardiac surgery and those from cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology labs. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and participation in evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited ACNP or PA program.
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice.
  • Certification as an ACNP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required.
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs is required.
  • Interpersonal skills and critical thinking must be demonstrated.
  • North Carolina license, North Carolina DEA, BLS and ACLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Post graduate ICU fellowship or experience in an ICU setting as a PA or NP preferred.
  • Applicants with significant and recent ICU experience as an RN will be considered.
  • Management of advanced mechanical circulatory support devices, including: Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Impella
  • Bedside critical care procedures, including: Central venous catheter placement, Arterial line insertion, Other vascular access procedures

Responsibilities

  • Daily assessment, management, and documentation of critically ill medical and surgical patients
  • Admission and ongoing management of patients from the operating room following complex cardiac surgery
  • Admission and management of hemodynamically unstable patients from the cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology labs
  • Collaboration with intensivists, surgeons, cardiologists, pharmacists, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
  • Participation in evidence-based critical care practices and quality improvement initiatives
