About The Position

This is a Locum Tenens position providing critical care coverage in a hospital setting in Pennington Gap, VA. The role involves clinical duties only, with a focus on critical care and emergency medicine for adult and geriatric patients. The physician will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients, as well as supervising nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The position requires working 12-hour shifts and maintaining documentation in the Epic EMR system. Supplemental coverage is needed for this role.

Requirements

• Active unrestricted VA Medical License
• BC in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
• Active DEA with VA address and applicable schedules
• ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required if not BC in EM or EM trained
• NRP required for non-ABEM providers
• Graduate of accredited MD or DO program
• Completion of ACGME/AOA approved residency in EM, FM, or IM
• ECFMG required for foreign medical graduates
• Case logs required for the last two years
• Required to supervise NP and PA providers

Nice To Haves

• EM residency graduates within the past 12 months may be considered
• 3-month proctorship required for new graduates
• Academic Medical Center experience preferred
• Telehealth experience not required
