Critical Care Medicine Physician
About The Position
A locum tenens Critical Care Medicine Physician is needed for inpatient clinical and in-house call coverage in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Coverage begins November 2, 2026, and continues ongoing, with listed coverage weeks from November 2026 through June 2026. The physician will round on assigned and unassigned critical care patients, provide in-house call coverage, manage ventilators and airway support, perform critical care procedures, and supervise mid-level providers and residents as needed. The facility uses Epic and has two PAs/NPs. Temporary privileges are available; hospital privileges are not required. The agency covers travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance.
Requirements
- Board certified or board eligible within five years of residency.
- Licensed in Arkansas.
- BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications.
- Proficiency in the listed critical care procedures, including ventilation management; chest tube insertion; bronchoscopy with BAL; management of acute volume and blood pressure issues; central, arterial, PA, dialysis, and temporary IABP placement; ICP evaluation and management; diagnostic and therapeutic taps; lumbar puncture; paracentesis; and thoracentesis.
Responsibilities
- Perform rounding on critical care patients, including assigned and unassigned patients.
- Provide in-house call coverage.
- Manage ventilators and invasive and non-invasive airway support.
- Perform central line, arterial line, and other critical care procedures.
- Supervise mid-level providers and residents as needed.
