About The Position

Provides direct patient care to individuals with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and people facing mental health, and substance use challenges. Ensures the safety and well-being of each patient and supports the maintenance of the therapeutic environment. This role is crucial for making a real difference in the lives of the people served by RHA Health Services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years’ experience working at the level of health care assistant
  • Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance required
  • Pre-employment screening: Complete criminal background Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
  • Drug testing
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required)
  • Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience in health care work at the level of health care assistant or an associate of arts in mental health; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience must be in the field of mental health.
  • Life experience may be substituted for work experience at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • 2 years’ experience in a health care setting, some knowledge of addiction and recovery programs.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct patient care to individuals with psychiatric disorders in the facility based crisis center.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of each patient.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the therapeutic environment.
  • Consistently following the plan of care designed to meet the emotional needs of the patients, including safety level checks.
  • Actively participating in the quality improvement process.
  • Verbalizing and demonstrating proper procedures for infection control.
  • Responding promptly and correctly to codes called.
  • Demonstrating proper protocols for managing aggressive patients and special precautions.
