The Crisis Peer Support Specialist provides direct, face-to-face services to clients receiving crisis services, drawing on personal peer experience to validate clients’ experiences and encourage active participation in treatment and recovery. Services are client-centered and focused on rehabilitation and recovery, including coping and symptom-management skills, use of natural resources, and community living skills. The team is part of the CCBHC program, which integrates mental health, substance use, and primary medical care in the Cherokee County area. The role includes accompanying the crisis team on community field visits, supporting clients in crisis, coordinating with treatment and service providers, and participating in an after-hours mobile-crisis on-call rotation. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role also includes after-hours on-call activities, approximately four weeks per month. Starting pay is $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
