About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Crisis Intervention Worker. The role involves evaluating individuals seeking space to ensure they meet program mandates, assessing and intervening in crisis situations, and providing immediate needs such as food, shelter, clothing, hygiene, and medical assistance. The worker will admit and orient clients to the shelter, review guidelines, and complete necessary documentation. Additionally, the position requires providing ongoing crisis support, referrals, advocacy, and education related to domestic violence, as well as information and referrals for specific support services. Collaboration with team members to enhance service quality and effective communication with clients and colleagues are essential. The role also includes producing detailed documentation of incidents and interactions, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to evaluate the need of each individual seeking space to ensure they meet program mandates.
  • Skills in assessing, intervening, and providing support during crisis situations (e.g., suicide intervention, mental health events and medical distress, etc.).
  • Ability to determine and provide immediate needs (e.g., food, shelter, clothing, hygiene, medical).
  • Proficiency in admitting and orienting clients to shelter, reviewing guidelines and completing pertinent documents and database entry.
  • Capability to provide ongoing crisis support, referrals, advocacy, and education surrounding domestic violence.
  • Ability to provide information and referrals to Harbour House School, Childcare and Support Services participants as applicable.
  • Strong teamwork skills to enhance the quality of services provided.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and colleagues to maintain program objectives.
  • Ability to produce effective and detailed documentation of incidents and interactions.
