About The Position
Centerstone is a leading nonprofit behavioral health system dedicated to providing life-changing care. As a trauma-informed organization, Centerstone fosters a culture of understanding and resilience. This hybrid position involves providing crisis counseling to individuals affected by natural disasters. The Crisis Counselor will offer resource connection, short-term supportive counseling, referrals for long-term counseling, and coping advice to those experiencing mental health crises related to natural disasters, specifically the severe weather ice storm impacting Middle Tennessee. This is a grant-funded position expected to last through summer 2027, with compensation at $25/hour plus mileage reimbursement for local travel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license required.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist preferred.
- Experience as a Mental Health Counselor providing clinical screenings, crisis intervention services, or conducting clinical intake assessments preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide telephonic or in-person screenings, risk assessments, resource linkage, and crisis intervention.
- Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards for ethical and clinical practice.
- Attend team meetings, in-service training, supervision, and quality assurance training.
- Demonstrate high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette.
- Provide service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and community resources.
- Foster a departmental culture of cooperation and collaboration with other departments, community agencies, hospitals, mental health consumers, and the public.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed.
