Responsibilities Job Summary Counsel and aid individuals in the program and support family members in dealing with substance and alcohol abuse and recovery. Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Counsel clients individually that may be experiencing a crisis while in a residential treatment and or outpatient setting. Monitor, assess, and evaluate clients in crisis as needed and work with appropriate staff to ensure client and milieu safety at all times, and make referrals when necessary. Prepare, maintain, and enter documentation in the company electronic health record, in addition to investigating client complaints and or grievances while working with QA staff to assure state and federal laws are followed and company policies are upheld. While providing crisis counseling to clients, implements deescalation techniques to assist with addressing client anxiety, emotion regulation, and mental health crisis stabilization at all levels of care. Provide group and individual counseling to assist in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency. Assess appropriate response to clients in crisis and implement evidence-based interventions. When necessary enter Incident Reports in a timely manner prior to shift ending. Advocate for clients and refer clients for other support services as needed, such as medical,social, or employment services. Respond as needed when client crises arise and make immediate and appropriate decisions that are in the best interest of both the client and organization.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences Required (social work, counseling or psychology).
  • License eligible, actively working towards licensure and/or certification in alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a behavioral healthcare field.
  • Experience working with substance abuse, addictions, mental health, cognitive behavior treatment and motivational interviewing.
  • Knowledge of utilizing electronic health record software and documentation.
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria.
  • Counseling experience with adults, an understanding of psychotropic medications and symptoms and effects.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret written information, type documentation, present information to groups and participate in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
  • Valid driver license and insurable driving record (If driving a company vehicle or if driving personal vehicle for company business; refer to Guidelines for Driving Company Vehicles).
