About The Position

The Crisis Counselor Team Lead provides timely, responsible crisis assessment and intervention to individuals presenting to the Behavioral Health Crisis Center (UBHCC). The role also provides clinical guidance for the center’s day-to-day operations and helps ensure that its services comply with agency policies, applicable certification standards, and the strategic plan for clinical care.

Requirements

Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
Meet the Department of Mental Health’s criteria for a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
Meet the Department of Mental Health’s criteria for Tier Two crisis team members.
Two years of experience in mental health and/or substance use service delivery.

Responsibilities

Conduct crisis assessments to determine the appropriate level of care.
Provide crisis interventions.
Maintain working knowledge of civil involuntary detention procedures.
Complete discharge, transition, and aftercare plans accurately and in a timely manner.
Provide lethal means counseling and complete safety plans with clients.
Maintain client records in accordance with agency and state regulations.
Interface with community partners, including law enforcement and emergency medical personnel.
Communicate issues and concerns and provide feedback and recommendations to the direct supervisor regularly.
Facilitate day-to-day program and clinical operations.
Identify and address front-line treatment and service issues as they arise.
Adhere to applicable evidence-based practice models.
Communicate information orally, effectively, and accurately.
Ensure the program operates within the constraints of agency certification standards (CARF and DMH) and the strategic plan related to clinical care.
Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
Perform other job duties and special projects as assigned.
