About The Position

Network180 is the behavioral health community organization responsible for the delivery of mental health, substance abuse treatment coordination, and developmental disabilities services for Kent County. We are seeking a passionate individual to make a difference by helping others as a Crisis Center Recovery Coach or Crisis Center Peer Support Specialist. This role provides interventions for clients experiencing a behavioral health crisis and assists clients in understanding and accessing substance use disorder services. The Recovery Coach will model competency in recovery and demonstrate on-going coping skills within the Crisis Center, which includes a Brief Intervention Clinic and Crisis Stabilization Unit. The Peer Support Specialist will assist individuals in understanding and using mental health and substance use disorders services, also modeling competency in recovery and demonstrating on-going coping skills within the Crisis Center.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience; may include volunteer work.
  • Actively working in a recovery program (12-step, church/spiritual, or other recovery support group).
  • State of Michigan Certified Peer Recovery Coach or be eligible and obtain certification by the State as a Peer Recovery Coach within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Long-term, stable recovery from alcohol and other drugs.
  • Able to identify with other individuals based on their shared life experiences to promote recovery by removing barriers and obstacles to recovery.
  • Has been a recipient of mental health and/or substance use services for at least one year, with a substantial life disruption due to their substance use condition.
  • Have personal experience with navigating complex substance use treatment services.
  • Knowledge and skills sufficient for establishing effective relationships with clients who have a substance use disorder, their families, and team members.
  • Knowledge about substance use disorders as it pertains to recovery and crisis planning.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities.
  • State of Michigan Certified Peer Support Specialist or be eligible to become certified by the State as a Peer Support Specialist within 90 days of hire.
  • Primary diagnosis of a mental health condition, or Have a strong personal knowledge of what it is like to have first-hand lived experience with a mental health condition that has caused a substantial life disruption, or Has been a recipient of mental health treatment and/or services for at least one year, with a substantial life disruption due to their mental health condition, or Have personal experience in navigating complex mental health treatment services.
  • Knowledge about mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders as well as recovery and crisis intervention.
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, electronic health record, and data entry skills.
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
