About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Pretrial, Probation, and Parole is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Technician 2 position for the Anchorage Presentence Unit located in Anchorage, Alaska. At the Anchorage Presentence Unit, you will be working directly with the Alaska Court System, the District Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, the Alaska Court System, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies along with employees of the Department of Corrections and other seminal agencies out of state in order to gather documents to facilitate the investigation of a person being sentenced on a felony crime on behalf of the Alaska Court System. As a Criminal Justice Technician, the main focus is conducting the administrative work of this office along with paraprofessional work which assists the Adult Probation Officers in obtaining the documentation necessary to research and write reports for the Alaska Court System. Some examples of duties are: answering the main phone line, obtaining legal paperwork and police reports from a variety of agencies, sending out victim notifications in preparation for the presentence report, updating documents and phone lists, speaking with victims about victim notification rights, research, drafting and preparing portions of the presentence report, and documenting all efforts in our computer database.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of training under a formally established Criminal Justice Technician 1-2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska; OR Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in: Integrity/Honesty: Contributes to maintaining the integrity of the organization; displays high standards of ethical conduct and understands the impact of violating these standards on an organization, self, and others; is trustworthy.
