About The Position

This position provides clerical support and case preparation to Adult Probation Officers for the Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) for screening, monitoring, and client referral to Behavioral Health & Social Services providers. The role involves reviewing and evaluating incoming court paperwork and client files to determine necessary actions for defendants to fulfill court requirements. The technician will also contact in-state ASAP offices, Department of Motor Vehicles, and providers to ensure program completion, and assist in monitoring alcohol & drug testing for ASAP/Therapeutic Court participants. This position is located in the Anchorage Alcohol Safety Action (ASAP) office in the Boney Courthouse and is open to Alaskan Residents only. The mission of the ASAP is to serve as a neutral link between the court and treatment agencies, guiding clients through substance abuse treatment requirements by providing information, education, and accountability. The Division of Behavioral Health's mission is to manage an integrated and comprehensive behavioral health system based on sound policy, effective practices, and partnerships.

Requirements

  • A valid and current Alaskan Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
  • Requires use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), which includes passing a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
  • May be required to work some weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Competencies in Accountability, Computer Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Oral and Written Communication, and Problem Solving.
  • Any combination of education and/or work, internship, and/or volunteer experience or service that sufficiently builds the above and any job-specific competencies.
