We are seeking a new Bureau Chief to lead the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Program. The Bureau Chief provides statewide leadership, vision, and strategic direction within the Division of Statewide Services. Key Responsibilities: Program Oversight: Manage essential programs including the sex offender registry, criminal history repository, statewide licensing initiatives, and the department’s records management unit. Requirements

  • Knowledge of human resource concepts, principles, and practices related to determining workload projections and current and future competency gaps to align staffing with organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods for evaluating program or organizational performance using metrics and outcomes, goal setting, and performance review and improvement.
  • Develop and administer large operational budgets with multiple funding sources, allocate resources strategically, and ensure fiscal stewardship aligned with performance objectives and public accountability expectations.
  • Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Makes well-informed, effective, and timely decisions, even when data are limited or solutions produce unpleasant consequences; perceives the impact and implications of decisions.
  • Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with uncertainty.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques for establishing internal control activities (for example, authorizations, verifications, reconciliations), monitoring their use, and evaluating their performance (for example, identification of material weaknesses or significant deficiencies).
  • Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.
  • Takes a long-term view and builds a shared vision with others; acts as a catalyst for organizational change. Influences others to translate vision into action.
  • Any combination of training and/or education in criminal justice, justice programs, political science, planning, business or public administration, business management, computer science, or a closely related field; and/or progressively responsible professional experience, which includes lead and/or supervisory experience in law, law enforcement or adjudication, corrections, criminal justice planning, adult or juvenile justice, and/or crime prevention.
  • Pass a background investigation and fingerprint based criminal history record check.
  • Obtain CJIS security clearance.
