About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Criminal Justice Information Services Manager I, this position is responsible for researching various databases to ensure information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements. This position independently researches and reviews information to make a recommendation on a firearms transaction decision. This position is responsible for applying federal and state disqualifiers as well as maintaining, organizing, and prioritizing their own workflow. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
  • Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.

  • Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining regular contact with local, state, and federal criminal justice other criminal justice agencies outside the state of Florida, and non-criminal justice agencies for the purpose of gathering required documentation to gain clarification as needed for decisions and record modifications;
  • Conducting research for relevant information from multiple databases and resources;
  • Analyzing multiple source documents to form a recommendation and decision for mental health related cases;
  • Providing documentation to external criminal justice partners to support updates to criminal justice systems;
  • Ensuring internal documentation for criminal justice information includes extensive notation and mark up to justify updates to criminal history records; and
  • Resolving difficult, unusual, or questionable issues in the review and processing of criminal justice information.
