About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Manager I, this position is responsible for researching crime reporting data to ensure information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements. This position is responsible for monitoring data collections processing tasks within defined timeframes as well as providing quality service to local, state, and federal agencies. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
  • Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting research to support accurate and complete crime reporting information to ensure all information received or disseminated is compliant with state and federal requirements;
  • Conducting research to validate submissions of crime reporting data;
  • Providing service to local, state, and federal agencies and the public by means of telephone, correspondence, personal contact, or online communications;
  • Responding to incoming communications as assigned and communicating effectively;
  • Drafting written notifications to customers regarding deficiencies or anomalies with data;
  • Identifying non-reporting agencies;
  • Working with agencies to identify errors within data submissions of crime reporting information;
  • Working with subject matter experts to resolve difficult, unusual or questionable issues in the review and processing of crime reporting data; and
  • Remaining knowledgeable about legislative changes, rules and regulations, policies, and operating procedures related to information systems and specific workflow processes.
