About The Position

Analyzes both on-campus and University District crime data and statistics to forecast and report information regarding potential crime hot spots. Determines whether a crime pattern is present. Reviews police reports for trends and potential threats to be mitigated and to make command staff aware of incidents of significance. Assists with accreditation compliance documentation, including statistics and analysis required for annual accreditation reports. Assists division with Clery Act compliance by compiling statistics and identifying crimes or crime trends that need to consider for timely warnings. Prepares crime pattern advisories and crime strategy reports to law enforcement personnel and security information analysts in the RTCC. Prepares statistical maps and charts for inclusion in presentations and crime strategy and analysis reports. Prepares information and intelligence bulletins. Operates computers and accesses databases and records systems to retrieve, sort and compile information and intelligence. Attends and participates in crime strategy meetings with division and department personnel. Collaborates with crime/intelligence analysts from other agencies. Utilizes social media accounts for identifying, monitoring and assessing the development of threats to the safety of the public and/or law enforcement personnel. Monitors potential threats associated with specific university events. Attends training to remain current in field of crime analysis and threat assessment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, political science, public administration or related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Ability to use analytical and statistical research methods to draw valid conclusions is required.
  • No conviction record for felony or crime of moral turpitude or domestic violence.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree desired.
  • 12 months experience conducting research and organizing data from various sources and 12 months experience working in public safety or related field desired.
  • Knowledge of Ohio criminal law desired.
  • Experience maintaining and tracking files desired.
