Responsible for analyzing and utilizing information on reported crimes, criminal patterns, and offender behavior to support crime prevention efforts, assist in the suppression of criminal activity, and aid in the identification and apprehension of offenders. This position performs all duties of a Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) Specialist and RTCC Specialist II as the foremost priority and carries out additional Crime Analyst functions including statistical analysis and investigative support. The role involves preparing statistical analysis of offenses, generating and distributing maps, reviewing intelligence bulletins, conducting traffic accident studies, preparing Auto/MC theft tracking, conducting meetings and presentations, preparing Narcotics buffer maps, attending depositions and court appearances, and performing administrative duties. The position requires the ability to learn and use various computer systems, interact effectively with others, write reports, analyze data, identify and resolve problems, comprehend and extract information from law enforcement reports, make presentations, communicate clearly, and make decisions in accordance with laws and policies. Required knowledge includes VSO General Orders and procedures, principles of management, area trends and concerns, research and report writing techniques, Florida Statutes, criminal methods of operations, crime analysis mapping, ArcView and ArcInfo computer programs, and Microsoft Software applications (Word, Excel, Access), VSO eRMS program, and Volusia Sheriff CJIS program.
