The Building Repair crewperson is directly responsible to the Supervisor. This role requires exceptional knowledge and remarkable skills in the designated job area, with the ability to carry out assignments and perform excellent quality work with minimum supervision. The employee must demonstrate outstanding qualities in efficiency, initiative, and dependability when completing various tasks. Employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours unless approved leave is granted. Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator. All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position. The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the position as needed, including iPads, basic office equipment, and hand tools of the trade and related power equipment. Travel between schools and to central offices will be required. The position may require working indoors in extreme heat or cold and outdoors in inclement weather conditions, and may involve working in confined or high spaces. Some strenuous physical work is expected, and the employee must be able to work productively in stressful situations. The daily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and delivery of services. Exposure to dust, odor, fumes, and chemicals is possible. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, perform as an effective team player, and plan, organize, make decisions, and prioritize work. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook are necessary. A professional manner, positive attitude, attention to detail, good judgment, and a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality are expected. Knowledge of the company's mission, purpose, and goals is important. Knowledge of various types of materials and procedures used in the trade is essential. The employee will work under the direct supervision of the department supervisor and must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs, maintaining a positive attitude. The employee must perform work in a safe manner and report any hazardous conditions, cooperate with other employees, and be willing to be trained in all phases of assignments to increase skills and qualify for advancement. A strong work ethic oriented toward efficiency and customer service is required. The employee must maintain appropriate licenses and certifications, including a valid Kansas driver's license. Superior knowledge of procedures, materials, and equipment utilized in the designated area, along with good workmanship, planning, and leadership, is expected. The employee must support organizational goals and the mission of the School Service Center and the district. Attendance at required meetings and in-services is mandatory. The role involves learning and performing a variety of tasks, including floor tile repair/replacement, ceiling repair/replacement, framing, door and jamb installation, ceramic and quarry tile replacement/repair, plaster repair, sheetrock installation/finish, and proficient use of leveling devices. Mandatory snow removal is also a responsibility. Good quality workmanship, planning, and self-motivation are expected, and the employee must be willing to learn from other crew members.
