About The Position

The Senior Crew Supervisor supervises personnel and work activities for crews performing construction, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of city streets, sewer and storm water drainage systems, parks, and other public infrastructure. The position is distinguished from the Crew Supervisor classification by assignment to the most difficult and complex projects, with an emphasis on high-priority construction projects. When multiple crews are assigned to a project, the Senior Crew Supervisor oversees all on-site activities and crew members. The role plans and assigns work, directs and develops employees, monitors work quality and progress, and coordinates resources, equipment, materials, permits, and safety measures. It also provides technical assistance and communicates with management, coworkers, other departments, agencies, and the public. The supervisor may operate heavy equipment and perform manual construction, maintenance, and repair tasks; maintain parks, landscapes, and sports fields; assist with special events; and respond to emergencies, including during inclement weather. The work involves operating equipment at work sites and occasionally on public roads, as well as physical activity and exposure to outdoor conditions, machinery, noise, and traffic hazards. The City of Albany, Georgia, is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.
