About The Position

One of the oldest organizations of its kind in the country, Community Partners in Action (CPA) was founded nearly 150 years ago to champion criminal justice reform and advocate for preserving the dignity of those in and out of prison. Through our programs that include reentry and housing, youth initiatives, a nationally recognized Prison Arts Program, and holistic alternatives to incarceration, we provide a long-term impact that positively transforms individuals and society at large. Annually serving over 4,000 individuals throughout Connecticut, our work is possible due to partnerships and support from individuals, government, private funders, organizations, and businesses. Requirements

  • Motivated individual with a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and strong work ethic.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
  • Two-year degree in the field of Social Services or Criminal Justice.
  • Demonstrate supervisory experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while maintaining a professional and courteous presence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems, efficiently implement appropriate solutions and an attention to detail.
  • Ability to coach and motivate staff while providing direction.
  • Valid CT driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation required.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports mission of CPA and Hartford Community Court by appropriately prioritizing in response to changing trends.
  • Promote a culture of respect, empathy, mutual support, belonging and work to eliminate any unconscious bias or discrimination in our beliefs, rules and systems.
  • Assist in the development of Community Service projects and preparation of all reports.
  • Understand and adhere to the policies and procedures of both Community Partners in Action and the Hartford Community Court.
  • Assist in hiring, training, development, supervision and termination of staff.
  • Supervise and provide guidance, direction and feedback to Field Supervisors and participants at worksites.
  • Ensure adherence to CPA policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of participants for community service projects.
  • Daily, ensure that all data related to case management activities, tracking, and recording of Community Service performance is captured in accordance with appropriate CSSD regulations, policies and protocols.
  • Perform clerical duties as necessary to include filing and answering phones.
  • Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required.
  • Role model pro-social behavior following program guidelines for professional conduct and code of ethics; always maintain a professional image and boundaries when interacting with staff, participants, court personnel or answering phones.
  • Assist in the facilitation of regular team-building exercises with staff.
  • Recognize staff and positively reinforce the desired behavior of staff and participants at every opportunity.
  • Remain constantly alert for any situation that may jeopardize the safety of staff and participants and ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Mitigate conflict as needed and use effective Motivational Interviewing skills to discuss participant issues while at project sites.
  • Assess transportation, insurance and equipment needs.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles are maintained regularly and in safe operating condition.
  • Coordinate transportation of participant meals; transport participants to/from work sites.
  • Assist participants as needed, teaching them skills needed to properly perform project activities.
  • Participate in related workshops, trainings, and panels to enhance the visibility of agency.
  • Promote the benefits of the performance of Community Service to community-based agencies.
  • Order and manage office supplies and operate all standard office equipment.
  • Engage in all staff meetings.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
