About The Position

Performs a variety of commercial credit processes and controls for the central credit utility. Involved in other related risk and commercial business activities, as required. Focus of role will include spreading commercial customer and prospect financial statements for use in credit decisioning and risk evaluation. This involves analyzing and interpreting business and personal financial statements of all types to recreate financial statement reports in a format that represents the bank's credit underwriting and risk evaluation principals. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or economics or commensurate experience.
  • Must be proficient in basic software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of credit analysis and/or loan review experience in the banking industry is preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of Fifth Third's internal applications such as CCAS, ACE and AFS and vendor supported systems such as Moody's Risk Analyst and Crowe Navigator is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Spread a variety of commercial, business banking, and private bank customer and prospect financial statements of low to medium complexity in accordance with Bancorp published guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy across lines of business, industries, and regions.
  • Communicate with portfolio managers and relationship managers, knowledge of accounting and basic credit underwriting principals that drive spreading guidelines, financial reporting requirements, and financial covenants.
  • Develop working knowledge of nuances associated with different industries and the impact on financial reporting and probability of default ratings.
  • Assist with special projects, portfolio manager administrative tasks, and support the Central Credit Utility leadership as needed.
