About The Position

SouthernCarlson is seeking an experienced Credit Manager to lead the company's credit and collections function. This role is responsible for managing accounts receivable performance, mitigating credit risk, improving cash flow, and developing effective collection strategies across multiple locations. The Credit Manager will provide leadership to the credit team while partnering with sales, operations, and customers to support business growth and maintain strong customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or financial management.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing credit, collections, or accounting personnel.
  • Background in the construction, industrial, distribution, or building materials industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of lien laws, Preliminary Notices, waivers etc.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial credit practices, risk assessment, accounts receivable management, and collection strategies.
  • High attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounts receivable management software preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated leader with a high level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Credit and Collections team to achieve departmental goals and performance expectations.
  • Oversee invoice collections and resolution of customer account issues to ensure timely payment and account accuracy.
  • Establish and monitor collection strategies to maintain customer accounts within agreed payment terms.
  • Review delinquent accounts, evaluate credit risk, and direct collection efforts based on aging, exposure, and customer circumstances.
  • Analyze accounts receivable trends and implement initiatives to improve receivable turnover, reduce DSO, and minimize bad debt.
  • Monitor Prelim software, by reviewing status and dates of Preliminary notices.
  • Analyze waivers to assure SouthernCarlson is protected
  • Partner with branch leadership, sales teams, and customers to resolve disputes and develop effective collection solutions.
  • Monitor customer payment trends and proactively identify potential financial risks.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce credit and collection policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Prepare and present accounts receivable, aging, collection, and credit risk reports to leadership.
  • Escalate significant financial concerns, credit exposures, and collection risks to senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and overall departmental performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders while balancing risk management and customer service objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulations.
