The Credential Engineering role is responsible for the design, construction, and manufacturability of HID credential products. This position bridges product development, materials engineering, and manufacturing to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and production-ready. The role supports development of new credential technologies and ensures feasibility prior to customer commitment. Who are we? Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working with polymer-based materials (PC, PVC, PET).
  • Experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or product development.
  • Strong understanding of material behavior under thermal and pressure conditions (lamination, bonding, adhesion).
  • Ability to translate material properties into manufacturable designs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations consistent with the engineering discipline.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, ISO standards, etc.
  • Must be a dependable team player, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. along with a high degree of PC technical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with printing equipment usage and capabilities is a plus.
  • Experience with lamination, multi-layer construction, or composite materials is a plus.
  • Experience with printing, coating, or converting processes is a plus.
  • Experience with adhesives, films, or surface treatments is a plus.
  • Experience with failure analysis, testing, and DOE is a plus.
  • Experience working across global teams or suppliers is a plus.
  • Experience with secure or regulated products is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP system and Agile PLM software is a plus.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and CAD drafting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying Continuous Product Innovation (CPI) opportunities and share with Global teams.
  • Developing credential constructions including materials, layer stack-ups, and physical architecture.
  • Ensuring designs meet security, functional, and durability requirements.
  • Defining manufacturing feasibility and process constraints (lamination, adhesion, thermal interaction).
  • Developing and executing validation plans and testing methods for new designs.
  • Translating product concepts into production-ready solutions.
  • Supporting development of new credential products and enhancements.
  • Integrating new technologies (polycarbonate, dual interface, digital print).
  • Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and suppliers.
  • Providing technical feasibility input for new customer opportunities.
  • Supporting development of standards and repeatable engineering frameworks.
