We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Credentialing Assistant to support the credentialing and enrollment of physicians, advanced practice providers, and other licensed healthcare professionals across multiple healthcare facilities and states. This position plays a critical role in ensuring providers are properly credentialed, enrolled, and compliant with regulatory and payer requirements, allowing them to begin delivering patient care without delay. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-service focused, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment where accuracy, communication, and efficiency are essential. The Provider Credentialing Assistant provides administrative support for all aspects of provider credentialing, payer enrollment, privileging, and licensing. Working closely with credentialing specialists, providers, hospitals, and regulatory agencies, this position ensures credentialing documentation is accurate, complete, and processed in a timely manner. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of administrative experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous credentialing or medical staff office experience.
  • Familiarity with CAQH, PECOS, NPPES, state licensing boards, and provider enrollment processes.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, NCQA, CMS, and payer credentialing standards.
  • Experience with credentialing software and provider database management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with initial credentialing, recredentialing, and provider onboarding processes.
  • Collect, organize, and verify credentialing documentation, including licenses, certifications, malpractice coverage, DEA registrations, and education records.
  • Monitor credentialing applications to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate provider files and credentialing databases.
  • Track expiration dates for licenses, certifications, DEA registrations, malpractice insurance, and other required credentials.
  • Assist with enrollment and revalidation applications for commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer networks.
  • Monitor enrollment status and follow up with payers to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Maintain accurate enrollment records and provider information.
  • Communicate with providers regarding missing documentation and credentialing requirements.
  • Coordinate with hospitals, facilities, medical staff offices, and credentialing committees.
  • Respond to credentialing-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and maintain credentialing logs and tracking systems.
  • Ensure credentialing files meet organizational, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Assist with audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain confidentiality of provider information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Support compliance with Joint Commission, NCQA, CMS, and state licensing requirements.
  • Work closely with credentialing specialists, human resources, provider recruitment, medical staff offices, and operational leadership.
  • Assist with onboarding activities to ensure providers are ready to begin clinical practice on schedule.
  • Support special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
