About The Position

Tutor Me Education is hiring a credentialed tutor to provide personalized, one-on-one in-home instruction to high school students with special needs in Redlands, California. The tutor will deliver instruction in Mathematics and English Language Arts, tailored to each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), academic level, and learning needs. This is an in-person tutoring position scheduled for 20 hours, with two sessions per week lasting 2.5 hours each. The stated pay range is $25–$35. Requirements

• An active teaching credential is required.
• Strong experience supporting students with special education needs and individualized learning goals.
• Experience teaching high school students performing below grade level academically.
• Strong knowledge of foundational and applied mathematics, including core operations, problem-solving, and multi-step reasoning.
• Skill in reading comprehension, written expression, grammar, sentence structure, and writing organization.
• Patience and an encouraging approach, with the ability to break complex concepts into manageable steps.
• Experience using scaffolding, guided practice, repetition, and individualized instructional strategies to reinforce learning.
• Ability to build student confidence while helping close academic gaps and improve academic performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized academic instruction in Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA).
• Reinforce core math operations, problem-solving strategies, and multi-step reasoning through structured lessons and guided practice.
• Strengthen reading comprehension, including identifying main ideas, themes, supporting details, and key information in paragraphs and articles.
• Teach written expression, including grammar, sentence structure, paragraph development, and writing organization.
• Break down reading passages and complex assignments into smaller, manageable sections.
• Model strategies for identifying important information, organizing ideas, and developing clear written responses.
• Use writing frameworks, visual supports, and scaffolded activities to strengthen academic communication.
• Use repetition and consistent review to reinforce understanding and retention of key concepts.
• Adjust lesson pacing and instructional methods based on the student’s academic level and individual learning needs.
• Monitor academic progress and provide ongoing feedback to build confidence and independence.
• Help students with daily activities and offer moral support.
