About The Position

This role involves promoting a safe and professional healthcare environment to ensure optimal patient care. The counselor will prioritize customer service, treating all individuals with courtesy and tact, and effectively communicating about services. Responsibilities include conducting various counseling sessions, presenting educational information on substance abuse, functioning as part of an inter-disciplinary team, and documenting patient progress and treatment plans. The role also includes assessing new patients and understanding specific program plans like the Diversion Prevention Plan for the Methadone Substance Abuse Treatment Program and Medical Managed Detox Unit.

Requirements

• CASAC
• Bachelor's Degree
• or High School Diploma with Life Experience
• 1-3 years of experience working in Substance Abuse

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care
• Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.
• Conducts individual counseling session, open and closed groups, family and con-joint counseling sessions
• Presents alcoholism and substance abuse educational information to patients and significant others.
• Functions as part of an inter-disciplinary team. Ensures referrals to modalities of such as determined by the needs of the patient.
• Write clear, timely, concise progress notes, areas of conflict short term, long term treatment planning and psychosocial history, etc
• Assess new patients upon admission.
• Conducts small group activities.
• Understands the Diversion Prevention Plan for the Methadone Substance Abuse Treatment Program and Medical Managed Detox Unit
