About The Position

The Credential Analyst Trainee supports the credential programs of the School of Education and Educator Preparation Providers Unit Programs under the direct supervision of the Associate Dean of the College of Communication and Education, with lead work direction and training from the School of Education Director and/or Credential Analyst II. The approximately six-to-twelve-month training program, not to exceed twelve months, prepares the Trainee to perform work comparable to a Credential Analyst I. Training includes learning state standards and requirements for teaching and service credentials; processing applications; evaluating academic qualifications and credit toward credentials, certificates, and permits; and interpreting and applying the California Education Code and related regulations. Permanent status is not available in the trainee classification. After successful completion, the Trainee will be reclassified to Credential Analyst I. The Credential Analyst I supports the School of Education’s credential and internship programs and Educator Preparation Providers Unit Programs under the general supervision of the Associate Dean, with lead work direction from the School of Education Director and/or Credential Analyst II. The analyst reviews credential applications and recommends whether credentials, certificates, or permits should be recommended for issuance. The role evaluates academic qualifications, processes teaching and internship applications, maintains credential resources and candidate records, coordinates program activities and workshops, and advises candidates, interns, faculty, committees, and other interested parties about credential requirements and processes. The Credential Analyst I does not have authority to notify the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing directly that a credential, certificate, or permit should be issued; that authority belongs to designated CTC authorized submitters. This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and a summer schedule of Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. The position qualifies for benefits, including a tuition fee waiver if eligible, sick leave, vacation, and health insurance.
