About The Position

The Creative Arts Therapist will be responsible for planning and implementing individual and group Creative Arts Therapy programs appropriate for the inpatient psychiatry setting. This role involves providing case management to program patients, carrying a caseload, and coordinating case management as defined by the setting. The therapist will assess patient status, assist patients in problem identification and realistic, disposition-oriented treatment planning, and follow patient progress. Recommendations for treatment plans and specific program needs will be made, along with developing and implementing documentation and protocols for treatment appropriate to the area of specialization. The therapist will also develop and adapt treatment goals and modalities for patients unable to tolerate group interactions. When credentialed and/or adequately supervised, the therapist may conduct group therapy or other specialized treatment modalities. Documentation of patient progress must be neat, clear, and timely, following the unit’s standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Art Therapy, Dance Therapy, Music Therapy or Drama Therapy.
  • Completion of supervised clinical training at the graduate level in an institution certified or recognized by the specific national certifying or registering organization.
  • 0 – 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • LCAT

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements individual and group Creative Arts Therapy programs appropriate for the setting
  • Provides case management to program patients
  • Carries a caseload and coordinate Case Management as defined by the setting
  • Assesses status of patients, assists patients in problem identification and realistic, disposition oriented treatment planning
  • Follows patient’s progress
  • Makes treatment plan recommendations
  • Coordinates all treatment for caseload
  • Makes specific program and treatment recommendations regarding the creative/expressive needs of patients
  • Develops and implements, through documentation and protocols, the types of treatment appropriate to area of specialization
  • Develops and adapts treatment goals and modalities for patients unable to tolerate group interactions
  • When credentialed and/or adequately supervised, may conduct group therapy or other specialized treatment modalities
  • Documents patient progress in a neat, clear, and timely fashion following the unit’s standards for documentation
