The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. This is a workforce planning requisition, we will be considering candidates at all levels for contingent and funded openings. THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT REPRESENTED POSITION

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area and three years related experience
Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Nice To Haves

NCCCO prefereed and Class A CDL with hazmat.

Responsibilities

Operate, generally maintain all types of light and heavy equipment, both diesel and gasoline engine powered.
Know quadrant of operation, read/load charts, know the structural/stability of all cranes and know the dynamic and shock loading of cranes.
Select, secure and adjust suitable chains, cables, slings, hooks and other lifting and securing devices to properly load/unload and balance a variety of equipment, and other items being moved or positioned by mobile cranes.
Safety check cranes, forklifts, Aerial Platforms etc., before and after operations.
Operate Mobile Hydraulic cranes.
Operate motor vehicles with responsibility for proper loading and unloading.
May operate heavy trucks and truck-trailers (4-ton and over) to transport materials and equipment to various areas within the installation.
Operate ground support equipment as required to accomplish work assignment.
Ability to fabricate wire rope and proof load equipment.
