About The Position

The Crane Operator plays a critical role in supporting wind blade manufacturing operations by safely moving blades, molds, and production components throughout the facility. This position is responsible for operating overhead cranes and related equipment to ensure materials are moved efficiently, production schedules are maintained, and all safety standards are followed. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and able to work effectively with production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• Crane certification preferred, or the ability to successfully obtain certification through company-sponsored training; previous experience operating overhead cranes, gantry cranes, heavy equipment, or material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to maintain situational awareness, follow established procedures, and ensure the safety of associates during crane operations.
• Ability to make sound decisions, prioritize work, and support production flow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
• Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and mentoring skills, with the ability to train others and work effectively across departments.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while remaining focused in a dynamic production setting.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety requirements.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment to safely move blades, molds, spar caps, shear webs, root pre-fabs, and other production components throughout the facility.
• Ensure the safety of all associates during crane operations by following established safety procedures and load handling requirements.
• Coordinate closely with Production Team Leaders and Shift Leaders to prioritize and execute crane-related movements in support of production schedules.
• Support manufacturing flow by ensuring adequate space and staging areas are available for demolded blades and production materials.
• Conduct pre-operation equipment inspections and report any mechanical, safety, or operational concerns.
• Assist in maintaining efficient material flow to minimize production downtime and bottlenecks.
• Train and support other team members as qualified backups for crane operations.
• Follow all company policies, quality standards, and environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
