About The Position

Jake's Tree Service is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Crane Operator to join our team. The Crane Operator will be responsible for operating cranes and related equipment to assist with tree removals, storm cleanup, and other arboricultural operations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal impact to surrounding property.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Experience operating hydraulic and/or boom cranes.
Ability to safely interpret crane load charts and lifting capacities.
Strong understanding of crane safety procedures and tree removal operations.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

Nice To Haves

CDL Class A or Class B.
NCCCO Crane Operator Certification or equivalent.
Previous experience in the tree care, utility, construction, or forestry industry.
Rigging and signaling certifications.
Experience working alongside arborists and tree removal crews.

Responsibilities

Safely operate cranes for tree removal, rigging, lifting, and material handling.
Conduct pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on cranes and equipment.
Work closely with climbers, ground crew members, and supervisors to execute lifting plans.
Follow all OSHA, DOT, ANSI, and company safety standards.
Read and interpret load charts, lift plans, and site conditions to ensure safe crane operation.
Set up and stabilize cranes, including proper use of outriggers and cribbing.
Assist with mobilization, demobilization, and transportation of equipment as needed.
Perform job site hazard assessments and maintain awareness of changing conditions.
Communicate effectively with crew members using hand signals, radios, and verbal direction.
Maintain accurate inspection logs, equipment reports, and daily operational records.
Support storm response and emergency tree service operations when required.
Represent Jake's Tree Service professionally while interacting with customers and the public.
