About The Position

The Crane Service Maintenance Technician will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair overhead cranes and related equipment throughout the facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of cranes used in manufacturing, assembly, and material handling processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background and be committed to maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must meet and maintain Company Driver eligibility requirements and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must maintain required automobile insurance when operating a personal vehicle for company business.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience maintaining overhead cranes, hoists, or industrial equipment preferred.
  • Experience with motors, drives, controls, PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics is a plus.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Must successfully attend and pass a third-party crane certification course within the first six months of employment.
  • Experience with overhead bridge crane maintenance and inspections.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and motor controls.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on overhead bridge cranes, hoists, and related material handling equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues.
  • Inspect crane components, including motors, brakes, gearboxes, wire ropes, hooks, limit switches, and electrical controls.
  • Troubleshoot crane malfunctions and perform repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and document maintenance activities.
  • Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Replace or repair defective components as needed.
  • Assist with crane installations, upgrades, and equipment modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety standards, and crane maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to schedule repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory of replacement parts.
  • Respond to emergency repair situations as required.
  • Travel to customer, supplier, job site, and company locations as required.
  • Operate a personal or company-owned vehicle for business purposes.
  • Transport documents, equipment, parts, materials, or other business-related items as needed.
  • Maintain authorization as a Company Driver in accordance with company policy.
