Crane Operator/ Yard Crew Member

About The Position

The Crane Operator works with the Yard Crew to move concrete products out of the plants and prepare them for shipping. This role supports the crew’s yard operations, including safely operating equipment, moving and loading products, preparing products for delivery, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The Crane Operator also communicates with the ground crew, follows established safety procedures, reports equipment problems, and works to improve processes and develop additional skills.

Requirements

Proven experience operating a crane.
General understanding of yard vehicles and equipment, with proven experience operating a forklift, skid loader, and semi yard trailer.
Ability to follow direction from supervision.
Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
Good housekeeping skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to operate equipment safely.
Strong work ethic.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Willingness to arrive at work on time every day.

Responsibilities

Operate the crane responsibly, safely, and efficiently while following all protocols.
Communicate with the ground crew and provide direction on the flow and movement of concrete products around the yard.
Move products from the plants to the acid wash area, yard, or wrap area.
Prepare products for shipment by retrieving them from yard storage, transporting them to a trailer, and loading them for shipment.
Operate a front-end loader and forklift to transport materials.
Organize and clean the yard and remove debris to maintain a safe environment for employees and clients.
Inspect equipment at the beginning of each shift to ensure it is safe to operate.
Assemble concrete products on pallets and wrap them securely for delivery to job sites.
Report equipment malfunctions or problems to a supervisor.
Follow instructions, guidelines, and procedures accurately and on time.
Seek to learn new skills and advance in level of responsibility.
Identify ways to improve processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency.
Perform yard housekeeping, including putting away tools, picking up debris, and cleaning cluttered areas.
Adhere to all safety standards and policies.
Perform crane rigging and signaling for drivers as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
