Crane Operator/ Yard Crew Member

About The Position

The Crane Operator works with the Yard Crew to move concrete products out of the plants and prepare them for shipping. The role supports yard operations and requires teamwork across the yard. Duties include operating a crane and other yard equipment, moving and preparing products for shipment, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and following safety procedures. The position also involves performing equipment inspections, reporting malfunctions, and seeking opportunities to learn new skills and improve processes.

Requirements

Proven experience operating a crane.
General understanding of other yard vehicles and equipment; proven experience with a forklift, skid loader, and semi yard trailer.
Ability to follow direction from supervision.
Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
Good housekeeping skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to operate equipment safely.
Strong work ethic.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Willingness to arrive at work on time every day.

Nice To Haves

General understanding of concrete is preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate the crane responsibly, safely, and efficiently while following protocols.
Communicate directions to the ground crew regarding the flow and movement of concrete products around the yard.
Move products from plants to the acid wash area, yard, or wrap area.
Retrieve products from yard storage, transport them to trailers, and load them for shipment.
Operate a front-end loader and fork truck to transport materials.
Organize and clean the yard and remove debris to maintain a safe environment.
Perform start-up inspections at the beginning of each shift to ensure equipment is safe to operate.
Assemble concrete products on pallets and wrap them securely for delivery to job sites.
Report equipment malfunctions or problems to a supervisor.
Follow instructions, guidelines, and procedures accurately and on time.
Seek opportunities to learn new skills and progress in responsibility.
Identify ways to improve processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency.
Perform yard housekeeping, including putting away tools, picking up debris, and cleaning cluttered areas.
Adhere to safety standards and policies.
Perform crane rigging and signaling for drivers as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
