About The Position

Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is preparing to launch Artemis to the Moon, and ARES is looking for talented people to help us get there. As NASA prepares the Artemis III SLS vehicle for launch to test the critical hardware that will land astronauts on the moon and bring them back to earth, we are seeking enthusiastic and capable individuals to support this mission. In support of this effort, the ARES team is seeking a senior-level engineer to provide technical support to the VAB 325-ton crane project for NASA.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Engineering or STEM discipline from an accredited college/university. Note: Four years of related experience for the skill specified can be substituted for a PhD.
  • Experience must equal or exceed 15 years in a related field with at least 8 years in the area of expertise.
  • Must be able to successfully complete NASA security protocol and complete required training.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work to meet critical schedule requirements in a dynamic environment
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and take initiative in completing tasks with minimal management direction
  • Independent learner, self-study and training skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • 10 years of engineering in complex crane control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Support NASA Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) in crane engineering.
  • Support NASA crane projects as an engineer in the coordination and prioritization of the ARTEMIS Program.
  • Oversee and perform Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for the VAB 325-ton crane in conjunction with NASA crane engineers and crane contractors.
  • Assist, perform documentation reviews and attend meetings associated with the crane project.
  • Provide support to real-time crane testing and operations in the Vertical Assembly Building at Kennedy Space Center.
  • Perform other crane engineering duties, as required.
