About The Position

This role involves direct involvement with large-scale submarine construction activities, managing vital systems projects in real-time with short-term turnaround. The engineer will troubleshoot breakdowns, provide immediate corrective actions to return critical equipment to service, and procure crucial assets to support production needs. Responsibilities include investigating equipment deficiencies at various shipyard locations. The engineer will be cognizant of structural, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical equipment used in lifting and handling, with specific responsibility for all overhead, portal, and mobile cranes. Responsibilities also include resolving technical problems, recommending design changes, vendor liaison, and providing input on procedures and technical support to department repair and test personnel to support production operations. This role requires an individual with a strong systems background to initiate and coordinate studies to improve equipment, operating methods, expand existing hardware utilization, and develop any new hardware required. The individual must be capable of climbing to 150-foot levels above ground and feel comfortable working at this height. This job also requires field work in all climate conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Structural Engineering
  • Capable of making technical presentations
  • Able to work with shipyard management personnel

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic components
  • Mechanical background plus working experience with cranes
